Surprise Visit to Texas!

My sister, Crys, turned 30 on May 22! As her birthday surprise, my brother-in-law, Zack, flew me to Texas. It was so freaking awesome! She wrote about the whole weekend, and I am feeling lazy, so I'll let you tell her what happened. I'm interjecting her story with some pictures and my parenthetical commentary (not unlike our reality)...

"Well, after this weekend I am feeling just fine and proud to be 30. It's all because of my sweet, wonderful husband. Wednesday night he left to 'go shopping' for my birthday present which is typical of him to go the night before. Ha-ha. I didn't think anything of it. He came home all jazzed up and told me he had gotten the perfect gift and I had to go see it. It was on the couch. I will never forget turning the corner into the living room and seeing my little sister Colleen on the couch smiling!!!! I think I actually flew over to her and jumped on her and must have sat there crying for about five minutes straight. She lives in Boston so we hardly get to see each other. BEST PRESENT EVER!"

(Here's Crys and I - a few minutes after I arrived. We were both crying, so we both look a little tore up, but I'm happy we caught the moment!)

"But the fun didn't stop there. Part of Colleen's present to me was organizing a sibling night out. The four of us went out on Friday night and had a blast together. I think we laughed the whole time. It was wonderful."

(Here are The Siblings - we should start a band - right before our sibling date. Me, Derek, Crys, and David. Yay for us! I love them so much!!!)

(Here we are with our winnings! We went to this rad place called Main Event. We bowled, played shuffleboard (rad!), played this trivia game [David kicked our aces], played skee ball, then tested our strength on one of those hammer carnie-type things. My brothers are tough. Crys is tough, too, actually. I was the only wuss. We got lots of tickets [digital tickets these days] so we got all these pimp prizes.)

"THEN on Saturday we headed out to my traditional birthday lunch at Macaroni Grill which turned out to be a SURPRISE birthday lunch just for me! I couldn't believe my eyes and I also couldn't believe Zack had done all that for me. There were over 30 people there to celebrate with me. Family and friends that I love. Zack gave a touching little speech and everyone enjoyed a good Italian meal AND cake in my honor. I felt so special. To top it all off, one of my best friends from work gave me a new Wii!!! SCORE! Thank you, Cynthia! (Super cute pic of Alexa boxing in the album that I have linked to below!) It has been a great weekend of fun and laughter and all very much needed. Colleen left yesterday to head back to bean town and I already miss her just as much as before. My husband rules. Thank you, Babe."

(It really was awesome. Zack made the weekend fantastic! I got to see all my babies at the surprise birthday lunch! Here they all are: Alexa and Baby Zack in the first picture (Crys/Zack's kiddos) and River, Isaac, Aaron, and Dawson in the second. (River/Dawson are David/Julie's kiddos, and Isaac/Aaron are Derek/Kelly's). Love them all! And guess what?! I've got a SEVENTH baby on the way! Kelly/Derek are EXPECTING! Yay!)

Check out my photo album of the weekend on Facebook for the rest of the pictures. There are some gems: Texas for Crys's Birthday!

My niece, Alexa - getting her port accessed!

My niece, Alexa, has cancer (neuroblastoma). She just turned four! It is an awesome miracle. My sister posted this video of Alexa getting her port accessed (essentially, an implanted device that makes giving her medicine/taking her blood a bajillion times easier). It is really cute, and pretty informative of her everyday existence. Check it.
