madamlorraine

This weekend was extremely fun.

Friday: It totally hailed all over the place... met a new (hot!) neighbor... Yanneth, Mellie and I tried to go to Madam Lorraine's place... ended up at Kerbey Lane, then went to some party at 26th and San Antonio. The party was kinda lame because we only knew like 4 people, but the night was tits overall.

Saturday: Fiona, Yanneth, Mellie, me... totally fun. The night was planned thus: Fortune-telling (hah!), Blondies at Applebees (Holy crap! These things are good), and roller-skating at Skateworld. The last thing didn't really work out- there weren't as many people there as we had anticipated. BUT! The funniest part of the evening was going to these "psychic" woman, Madam Lorraine. It was really weird... there were all these Catholic pictures everywhere and a bunch of ceramic crosses and stuff. She told Yanneth that she could cure her worries for the low price of 180 bucks, Mellie is gonna meet a boy and die an old lady, warm in her bed ("... not here! not this night!..."), and I apparently have psychic powers myself. Fiona was the only smart one in the bunch and saved her dough.

Here are the details of my "reading" (we wrote down all that we could remember on napkins as soon as we got to Applebees...please note that all of these should be prefaced with "Apparently..."):

+ I will have 2 kids. I will have a very turbulent marriage, but it will work out. I will be married only once.

+ I will own my own business by the time I am 30 or 32.

+ I have psychic powers and very good instincts... I know when something good or bad is going to happen.

+ There will be a white guy and a foreign guy with an accent in my life; one of them will love me, and that one is here in Austin right now.

+ I will work with my hands and my mind, but mostly my mind because I'm smart.

+ I will be taking two trips, a short one and a long one. The short one will be for fun, the long one will be for learning.

+ I should stay away from people with drugs/drunkards because "it will mess me up."

+ I like to be around fun people; I don't like to be alone.

Doo doo doo doo!! (Twilight Zone theme...) One of the weirdest things though was when she first grabbed your hand or whatever, she told you to make a wish. I did, and as soon as she grabbed my hand, she said, "Your wish is about a person, and don't worry, it will come true." WHOA!!! My wish was SO totally about a person and I've been worried about it for some time now. Crazy. So yeah, that was my experience with Madam Lorraine... I don't need to be reminded why that kind of stuff is warned against... whoa.

sxswweekend

Ok, so I forgot about all these pics from the SXSW weekend... here's some pics to whet your whistle. OH!! And I threw up egg yolks this morning... it was the first time I have thrown up since I was four or so. Nuts.

I am ordering these:

We all met the boys of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force downtown:

We saw the My Space bus and we thought it was pretty tits... yeah, we only have internet friends.

I buffed Mellie and I's nails with this nail buffing kit that Derick gave me! Awesome.

OK! I hope you had fun.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!! (Nobody kissed me today and I am TOTALLY Irish!!??!! Explain that one!)

Last night was totally rad. I interviewed this awesome band from Scotland, Dawn of the Replicants. They are here for SXSW... They are the nicest guys ever! And they kept saying "Aye" when I asked them questions... It was rad. They also tasted root beer for the first time; Paul said it tasted like perfume. The whole band was great, it was a nice FM experience... The only down side was that about half an hour into the interview, someone farted and it smelled REALLY bad. I didn't want to say anything though-- come on! They were voted "Best New Group of 1997"... I don't know, maybe one of them had too much haggis??

Anyway, here are some pics that Mellie took- the first is from outside the DJ booth- Paul at the mic, Roger a bit back, and then either Mike, Grant, or Donald holding the infamous root beer. The second is me and the band under the lovely KVRX banner. So picturesque.

I went to see Robots at the Drafthouse with Mellie. I liked it, it was pretty cute. Tomorrow is Dawn of the Replicants at Habana Calle 6 at 9pm, then a couple hours of taking pictures with all the freaking hot guys that will be downtown, then Mae at Vibe at midnight. It will rock. Then, there is the Equal Vision Records showcase with Armor for Sleep and Circa Survive on Saturday. An awesome weekend coming up. Spring Break has been full of Sunglass Hut and working on my audio project... the project is coming along decently well, I will post it when I am done.

Oh, and I have the coolest family EVER! The "O'Kelly Fam" gave me a rockin' Ireland shirt and some brownie bites! Hurrah!

SOME HOLIDAY LOVE (Photo credits: Mellie!)

A shout-out to my favorite holiday: St. Patrick's Day!

And some Easter lovin'-- these Easter baskets make some sexy-ass Russian hats.

Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match!
Find me a find! Catch me a catch!

I am a good matchmaker for others, bad for myself. The ones that like me, blah, the ones I like- they find me blah. Whateva!

I am a bridesmaid in two weddings this summer. I have already heard "Always a bridesmaid, never a bride" from like 4 separate people.

thisfeelingsucks

I hate this feeling.

I have felt it way too long.

hobbitsoftheshire

Last night was pretty rad- Thomas and Katie arrived in town, then me, Katie (roommie) and Katie (lil' sis), Thomas, and Mellie went to Rudy's. Whoo hoo! It was tasty tasty. I have never eaten so much meat at one time in all my life.

Then we went to Scott's birthday party-- Hobbits of the Shire played-- it was their first show and it was really good- I wasn't surprised necessarily considering the participants, but I do have to say it was the best "first show" I've seen in a LONG time. Here's some pics from last night for you (photo credits go to the ever-lovely Mellie):

Here's the Hobbits- check them out at Red Rum on March 29. (There's a drummer, I promise...)

Katie (Thomas's sister), Thomas and myself... I have NO earthly idea what the crap I am doing... We were looking at the ducks/swans at the Arboretum pond- FUN!

And this is me and the Bean- I love this picture of us... granted, I look totally insane, but you can see we're awesome friend-zees. She said I give the "best piggy back rides". THAT'S RIGHT.

And this picture is from that party I talked about a post or so ago. Yanneth, Katie, Mellie and I left the party to go get a cake for everyone and we had to decorate it. You see the beautiful icing on the name "Erica?" Yeah, I did that. You are healous of my talents.

Thomas, Katie and I just got back from UT... they came down for Explore UT and we checked out the campus. I took them to the station... I don't think the 98374982742374 stickers and broken chairs impressed them, but like Thomas said, "A college radio station has to be dirty!"

caseyuhh

Things have been going great this week.

I am applying for the Wofford Denius Music Industry Internship Program, and one of my professors offered to sponsor me. Hooray for Diane! I had anticipated applying for internships in New York, but I totally forgot about Julia's wedding (don't ask me how!) so I have shifted my focus to Los Angeles (I have this free ticket on Southwest and they would fly from LA to Oklahoma, but not from NY to Oklahoma, so yeah...)... I applied at SideOneDummy Records, Immortal Records, E! Networks, Woodworks Records, etc. etc. etc. The bad side to all of this is I have to get one of these companies to commit to giving me an internship before the application date of the UT side of the picture: March 24. AAAAAAAHHHH!!! No one has e-mailed me back yet, but resumes were sent everywhere, we'll just have to wait and see.

Also, the programming department at KVRX e-mailed me and offered a 2 hour show! YAY! I think I would be at roughly the same time on the schedule, just for a longer period. So, you all could hear me for a *whole hour* more!!! Aren't you excited? Also, this Sunday night / Monday morning at 1 a.m. I will be on Fighting Music- the hard core and metal specialty show. Check it out! You can listen at 91.7FM or, of course, KVRX.ORG! If you don't like metal, well... first, you're missing out, and second, you can just turn the volume down until me and Noble's voices come back on the breaks! Haha.

And on another nice note- I met this boy C (I am calling him "C" because I don't know how to spell his name... sounds like Casey but it seems like there is some kind of "uh" sound at the end... I don't know- I was too shy to ask)at Fiona and Gina's party last Friday. Well, I was freaking out over how ridiculously good-looking C was, and finally we talked for like 2 minutes. I found out he drives tractors for landscaping or something while he is in school, and I think that's just ridiculously hot. Anyway, the party went on and we left and I was regretting not doing anything about the whole C situation. So, Mellie called Joseph (this gay guy from San Antonio we had just met) and she handed the phone to me. Well, I thought I was talking to Joseph and so I was going on about C and then C goes "That's me." Haha, but he said he wanted my number but was "too scared" to ask. Haha.

OK- so that's the background story. Tuesday he calls and asks if I am free on Wednesday, I give him my schedule- he calls at 7:30pm on Wednesday, apologizing for "calling so late"... sweet! So, we decided to meet at Waterloo Records (after me bugging Katie with endless, "Ok, how does this look?"'s) and then went to Mongolian Grille. It was really fun and the conversation never lulled, so that was exciting. He works out, too, so we got to talk about that for a while. We talked about me being a deejay, him skateboarding and making cartoons, school, etc. For some retarded reason I insisted on paying (don't ask me why, I'm retarded) and he says, "Well, fine- I'll get it next time." Nice. He was a gentleman, and a radically hot gentleman at that. I was worried that all he had going on was looks (which I could NEVER deal with-- I have to have intellectual/conversational stimulation) but, luckily, I found out I was wrong.

I don't really care if we go out again or not (he's younger than me, eep!) but it was nice to steal the affections and interest of someone as attractive as him just for self-esteem reasons.

ANYWAY. This post is totally self-centered and crappy. I promise next time I'll dish out something more socially relevant, or, well... at least entertaining.

geminiheartsgemini

When two Geminis partner off, it really is like four people coming together (Gemini is represented by the Twins). This relationship can never be dull, which is a good thing -- these two can get bored easily! Since they have the same need for intellectual stimulation and nearly-constant chatter, they serve very well as one another's sounding boards off which to bounce new ideas and theories. Gemini is all about freedom and variety of expression, and two Geminis together will enjoy this to the fullest. Others enjoy two Geminis as a couple as well -- they're sure to be the life of every party with their sharp wit and well-honed entertainment routine. If they can avoid competition and cooperate instead, their love relationship can be extremely happy and mutually satisfying.

The Twins love to toss back and forth tidbits of playful banter, sarcasm and occasional ironic cynicism. This is fun, to be sure, but may prevent one or both of the partners from taking the relationship seriously. In an intimate love relationship, there is certainly a place for seriousness, which Gemini would do well to learn. If both partners can pay more attention to their feelings rather than being ruled solely by thoughts and intellect, they will greatly enhance their love experience.

Gemini is ruled by the Planet Mercury (Communication). This couple could talk each other around in circles all night long. Mercury (or Hermes in Greek mythology) was a traveller; Gemini shares that love for variety in places and conversation topics. Be warned, two-headed Twins -- the gift of gab could be misinterpreted as gossip. Learning to use the gift of communication in a positive way is key.

Gemini is an Air Sign, and thus responds to the world and to their romantic partner with a more rational than emotional focus. Their short attention spans cause them to burn out sometimes, but two Geminis together burn out at the same time! And, of course, that Gemini creativity will dream up a new scheme a moment later.

Gemini is a Mutable Sign. Their flexible, easy-going natures make the four of them a perfect couple. These two have mastered the art of compromise; two Mutable signs together can easily form a conflict-free union. Just about the only thing that may lead to a real argument is a discussion that has gone out of hand; luckily, Gemini quickly realizes the insignificance of proving a point -- and of fighting in general.

What's the best aspect of the Gemini-Gemini relationship? The enormous amount of intellectual energy and stimulation they provide one another. They are able to save one another from leading a mundane existence. Together they can entertain the world and accomplish more than either could alone.
